For those summer and fall babies, you donโt have to have your session take place inside of a studio. Donโt get me wrong, studio sessions are great, but we can always tap into your own uniqueness and creativity to capture something tailored to you and your little one.

Here are my top 6 tips to help you prepare for your little ones smash cake session.
When to Schedule Your Session: If youโd like to use your photos to display at babyโs birthday party, or to post on social media on the exact birthday of your child, I recommend having your session take place a month to two months prior to birthday. This will give me time to turn around your gallery, for you to select your favorites and order print products.
Bring Other Snacks: Yes, your little one will be eating cake and icing, but I would recommending bringing seem small basic snacks that your child loves to munch on. Also, have a sippy cup full of water!.
Avoid Chocolate Cake: It looks, how to say this nicely, it looks like poopโฆ YIKES.
Cake Preparation: If you are having a cake professionally made or if you are making it the day before and storing it in a refrigerator. PLEASE remember to take it out of the refrigerator a few hours before our session time, so that the icing can soften. A hard, cold cake will not be FUN!
Leaving Older Siblings at Home (if possible). Siblings, especially those under 4, donโt understand why they canโt have cake too. This session is a special occassion for your little one, so we want to make this day all about baby!
This is Going to be Messy: Like really really messy. Pack an extra outfit and even one for yourself (just in case).
