Of course, there are a few things to keep in mind when planning your maternity photo shoot. First, make sure to choose a photographer who you feel comfortable with. This is someone who will be spending a lot of time with you during the shoot, so it's important that you feel like you can relax and be yourself around them.

Ask About Their Experience & Portfolio
A good photographer will provide you images, a great photographer will provide you an experience! So don’t be afraid to ask what kind of experience you should expect to receive. Will the photographer capture images that reflect who you are as a couple? Have they taken the time to know you deeper than just a “client”?
Social Media is a great platform for all small businesses, and photographers especially, but always keep in mind that photographers are (and they should) use their platforms as giant billboards, showing off the best of the best work they have. So again, do not be shy when asking if you can view a complete gallery.
Look At Their Reviews Online
Go to Google - does the photographer you are reviewing have a Google Business Listing? Do they have dedicated clients reviewing their specific experience with that photographer? What are people saying outside of Social Media about this photographer?
